Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10 1949. She is an American investor, speaker and consultant. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001 and shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran was among the first Shark Tank investors. She has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, with the largest being a $350,000 deal that included 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in an Irish-Catholic working class family. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. Sometimes, the family relied on deliveries of food for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father, one who would drink excessively, and treated her mother disrespectfully and condescendingly, especially after he'd had a few drinks. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and she later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated at an Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
